Date: Monday, March 10, 2008 School: P.S. 001 The Courtlandt School Principal: Mr. Jorge Perdomo Grade: Pre-K to 5 Visit Overview: Met with the Principal and the School Technology Liaison (STL), Allison Rosenblum. The purpose of the meeting was to conduct the Technology Inventory/Survey and discuss immediate concerns regarding technician support, professional development and continued support, and the Principal's Technology Initiative which includes both short and long-term goals for instructional technology in the building. Concluding the walk through, I made some immediate suggestions to the principal. I informed him that I would request technical support to assist them with immediate technical and networking issues. I assisted the STL in registering for the "Coaching the 21st Century Classroom" scheduled on March 31st at the Information Technology High School in Queens. Finally, I discussed scheduling Professional Development and ongoing support for eChalk workshops and SMART Board Training for 6-7 teachers on site. Goals:
Conduct an inventory/survey of the instructional technology in the building.
Tentatively schedule on site professional development workshops for SMART Boards and eChalk.
Next Steps: (Follow-up Procedures):
After attending the "Coaching the 21st Century Classroom," assist the SLT in creating and implementing the school's technology plan.
After facilitating this year's workshops, create a Professional Development Plan for technology integration with the Principal and STL.
Anticipated Outcomes:
Build a relationship with the school and provide ongoing support.
Areas of Concern (if any): The Principal has a clear vision of technology use in his school but there is existing technology that can also be upgraded and utilized in some way. In building his infrastructure, I worry that he may not be aware of how to fully utilize the resources he already has at the school.
* Extra Support Needed:
The SLT has requested assistance with overall networking capabilities.
The Principal has expressed a desire to build a relationship with our office so that they can have ongoing support and professional development.
